Endometriosis is characterized by the growth of tissue similar to the uterine lining outside the uterus. It manifests with severe pelvic pain and can pose challenges to conception. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it can commence during a person’s first menstrual period and persist until menopause.

The condition triggers the formation of tissue outside the uterus, leading to inflammation and the development of scar tissue in the pelvic region, and in rare cases, elsewhere in the body. While the cause of endometriosis remains unknown, there are no established methods for preventing it. Although there is no cure, symptoms can be managed through medications or, in some instances, surgery.
